4/11/2011 - CrimeReports.com Launches TipSubmit Mobile for iPhones and Andriod

Salt Lake City – April 11, 2011 – CrimeReports, creators of the National Crime Map, today announced the launch of the TipSubmit Mobile app for Android and iPhone. The app is the first mobile application that lets the public anonymously submit tips to law enforcement agencies to help solve and prevent crime.

Users of the free app may now submit secure and anonymous tips to Crime Stoppers programs, inlcuding Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers, law enforcement agencies or school safety officers and administrators. The TipSubmit application serves thousands of communities, schools and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies due to its full integration with TipSoft, the industry leader in anonymous crime tip reporting and management.

“With our track record in anonymous tip management, tipsters can feel secure in their safety and anonymity using this powerful new tool,” said Kevin Anderson, Vice President of the TipSoft product suite. “Tipsters can even receive rewards of up to $1,000 in the U.S. and up to $2,000 in Canada for information submitted to Crime Stoppers that lead to arrests, without anyone ever knowing their identity.”

The new mobile application augments the existing TipSoft tools that allow the public to submit anonymous tips via phone, web and SMS Text-a-Tip. The app offers more powerful options than SMS Text-a-Tip, because it has the ability to use GPS to auto-locate the nearest agency or to select an agency manually. Members of the public can attach images and video to tips. The app also makes it possible to establish an anonymous, ongoing, two-way dialogue and real-time chat with the receiving agency.

There is no cost to the public to use this application. To learn more or to download the TipSoft application, visit TipSoft.com or visit the Android Market or iTunes App Store.

Crime Stoppers to Accept Anonymous Text Tips

Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers is taking advantage of the latest communications technology with the goal of empowering those with information about crime to share it with law enforcement. Text messaging, also known as Short Message Service (SMS), has become a popular means of communication, with over 300,000 text messages being sent every minute in the United States. Anyone with information can now send an anonymous text message to Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers and still be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000 if the information helps solve a crime or locate a wanted fugitive.

The process is very simple. To send a text message tip from a cell phone, the tipster must text “TIP214 plus the message” to CRIMES (274637). The key word TIP214 must appear on the first line of the text message in order for the tip to reach Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers. The tipster will then receive an automatic text message reply that will contain their confidential code number that will allow the tipster to provide follow up information to their tip if necessary. Crime Stoppers will be able to send text messages back to tipsters without knowing their cell phone numbers and advise them of the status of their tips and ask additional questions.
